The partnership will see Moxueyuan promote BeNative’s platform to its existing customers, as well as other businesses in the Chinese market – both online and offline. Smatoos will use the opportunity to expand its reach in the B2B market to Chinese businesses and public organizations.
Founded in 2009, Moxueyuan provides training services to businesses such as the food delivery unicorn Ele.me, and also operates programs in startup support centers.
It should prove a valuable launchpad into China for BeNative, which already has 300,000 users around the world. BeNative doesn’t just offer beginner and everyday English, but also focuses on business and management topics, with content from over 300 global business people and entrepreneurs.
“We’re very pleased to work together with Chinese B2B training company Moxueyuan while the corporate education market is continues to grow in China — which has the largest English-language market in the world,” said Smatoos CEO Alan Kim. “We’ll do our best to help more Chinese companies use our content for in-house English training.”
BeNative uses videos of English conversations accompanied by timestamps and subtitles so users can skip back to any parts missed with ease. While many videos are made to teach basic English, others are real videos from global professionals. Learners gain points for watching full videos and can rank themselves against other users. Chinese can also be learned through the app, added to the platform in late-2015.
Last year BeNative received an award for service innovation at the 2016 Korea Best Enterprise awards and was previously also selected as one of the top companies at the 2015 Stratus Awards held in the US.
